One almost hesitates to reflect on the tragicv events in Paris, when it would seem best to simply restrict oneself to categorically rejecting such inhuman barbarities. Instead, it is exactly now that one should try and use reason. Indeed, if there is an objective shared by all terrorists supporting all causes, be they political or religious, it is to spark emotional and violent reactions after which there will be no difference between them and the targeted societies. We would like to say that this will not happen, as the French and other leaders keep repeating like a mantra, stating that democracy will stand firm, not allowing itself to be assimilated with those who are intolerant and violent. Nowadays, in Europe one hears talk of measures that are not anti-terrorist, but rather anti-Muslim and anti-immigration, of mass deportations and even the reintroduction of the death penalty.
