Tolerance in Mediterranean Societies: History, Ideas, and Institutions
The Casablanca School organized by Reset Dialogues on Civilizations in collaboration with the Fondation du Roi Abdul Aziz is a project on cultural-religious pluralism, education, and political liberties. The School combines a workshop targeting young scholars, researchers, journalists, and media professionals together with an international conference addressing the broader public. The School is fully integrated with the conference, whose core topic is the reawakening of Islamic pluralistic traditions. This is addressed by using critical tools provided by the social sciences — from domestic law to theology, and from political philosophy to sociology, anthropology, and history. Comparative cases are also discussed — especially within contexts that share the same religious background, or with contexts that once held similar backgrounds before turning to secular/liberal models.
The school focuses on the multiple historical, theological, social, philosophical and legal-constitutional dimensions of the complex and constantly evolving relationships between religion and politics in MENA societies. Special attention is paid to the role played by education – and that of religious education in particular – in the historical evolution of this relationship. Within this thematic framework, the main objective is to trace the diverse historical conditions behind the formation, perpetuation, and transformation of related concepts and ideas.
Reset Dialogues and the King Abdul-Aziz Al-Sa’ud Foundation for Islamic Studies and Human Sciences are pleased to present the second edition of the Casablanca Summer School.
WORKING LANGUAGES
English and Arabic. A simultaneous translation from English to Arabic and vice-versa will be provided.

Requirements
-Students, young scholars, researchers, journalists, and media professionals in the field of humanities and social sciences are welcome to participate in the International Summer School that will take place in Casablanca from the 08th to the 20th of July 2019.
-Have at least a good working knowledge of English and/or Arabic.
HOW TO ENROLL FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL
It is possible to apply for participating in the CASABLANCA SUMMER SCHOOL 2019 (08-20 July) WITH GRANTS or WITHOUT GRANTS.
GRANTS REQUEST – APPLICATION CLOSED – DEADLINE: May 17, 2019

Application requirements:
-Curriculum Vitae.
-A Letter of Motivation, stating why you want to take part in the Summer School and why this is relevant to your studies and/or working field. 2,000 characters max.
-A personal ID (Passport or National Identity Document).
-Reference names are appreciated but not indispensable.
GRANTS for the Summer School:
Budget is limited. Small grants are addressed to students/scholars depending on their motivation letter, cv, motivation letter, travel distance from Casablanca, financial status.
In order to receive the GRANT, attendance to all lessons and workshops of the Summer School, and attendance for the whole duration of the Seminar is mandatory.
The GRANT will be delivered in cash on Saturday the 20th of July.
