Seyla Benhabib is a Professor of Philosophy and Political Theory at Yale University (Connecticut). Her research has many aspects, ranging from the history of 19th century and 20th century political-social idea to the feminist theory and above all the Frankfurt School.
The award, dedicated to the late-Medieval theologian and philosopher Meister Eckhart (1260-1328) and awarded every two years since 2001, will be presented to her on May 19th within the framework of the festival of philosophy, Phil.Cologne. Winners of this award include the French ethnologist Claude Levi-Strauss, the German philosopher Ernst Tugendhat and the French philosopher Michel Serres.
