Contributing to Overcome Poverty and Underdevelopment
The most engaging involvement is related to Project Malawi, promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo and Fondazione Cariplo in cooperation with four international NGO’s (Comunità di Sant’Egidio, Save the Children, Scouting Nets of Malawi and CISP). It is a long-term goal to ensure a future to one of the neediest areas in Africa, Malawi, which is living a tremendous emergency today. The project is based on the integration of several activities: health assistance, education and prevention, orphans’ care, creation and development of a local economy. The funds we provided and those that were gathered allowed us to start building the Kapeni Polyvalent Centre, a first important result that will be followed by other initiatives in order to create, by 2008, an health network covering all the country. Intesa Sanpaolo has been cooperating for years with Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus in order to recover food resources in favour of the needy. In particular, thanks to a widespread promotion within all its banches, the bank contributes to spreading the knowledge of the National Food Collection Day during which, by shopping in the supermarkets that adhere to the initiative, one can donate food that will allow to concretely help the poorest. Supporting University and Cultural Exchanges
The commitment in this area takes shape into the support toeducational and research programs of major Italian universities through different forms of cooperation, including the creations of chairs and the funding of master courses;
grants for the intercultural exchange project promoted and organized by the Association Intercultura Onlus that allows Italian high school students to live and study abroad and foreign students to grow culturally rich by spending a time of their lives in our families and schools.

Mutuo AtipicoIt is an innovative form of loan for buying a first house, intended for fixed-term employees. It is the only loan that provides the opportunity to interrupt the payment of instalments for six months and provides for an insurance coverage that, if necessary, can relieve from the payment for two more periods of six months each.
Anticipazione Sociale
It is a program of Intesa Sanpaolo in cooperation with Fondazione Lombarda Antiusura and Agenzia Regionale per il Lavoro di Regione Lombardia, intended for the workers of Lombard enterprises who are subject to cassa integrazione (body responsible for unemployment benefits) because of corporate crisis. It is a credit that is at disposal of the worker since the cassa integrazione straordinaria is declared till when INPS allocates the estimated economic compensation. Because of legal and bureaucratic procedures, it can take also 4/5 months. Interests on those credits are covered by Fondazione Antiusura.
Consorzio PAN (Progetto Asili Nido)
The project, carried out in cooperation with three major networks of social enterprises (Cgm-Consorzio Gino Matterelli, Compagnia delle Opere and Legacoop), is aimed to the opening of nursery schools throughout the national territory, with certified quality standard. The Bank finances at favourable conditions, and supports with activities of training and counselling, those undertakers, selected and assisted by the partners of the project, that intend to start an activity in the field.
